Version 1.6.0 Release - Persistent Options
Version 1.6.0 has been officially released!
I've been hard at work making changes to improve the overall experience in Announcer. Here's a summary of what's changed:
Option Overhaul
The backend for options in the game has been overhauled and will allow for options to be persistent between game sessions, unfortunately, due to some delays I haven't been able to add any new options EXCEPT now you can delete your save at any time if you'd like. Be warned though, there's no confirmation. Some changes may not fully take effect until you've restarted the game. As for the fullscreen option, it will now be remembered whenever you quit and open the game again.
Currently planned options include:
- Audio
- Master Volume - Overall volume
- Sound Effect Volume - Volume of all sound effects
- Announcer Volume - Volume of announcer in-game
- Music Volume - Volume of main menu music
- Video
- Fullscreen (Implemented)
- VSync - Toggle on/off the framerate limiter
- Accessibility
- Reduced Motion Blur - Heavily reduces motion blur when changing camera positions
- Disable Post Processing - Disables post-processing entirely, generally not recommended but may fix visual issues or improve performance on low-end devices
Changelog
- New Feature: Persistent Options
- Your fullscreen setting will now be saved between sessions, as well as all future options that have not been implemented yet.
- Tutorial Tweaks:
- Fixed some incorrect & misleading messages during the tutorial
- Removed the 'ding' sound effect that plays when a tutorial step is completed, this is a side effect of the following change and may be re-added at a future time (probably not)
- Streamlined the tutorial by removing unnecessary steps when the relevant menu is already in view.
- Stylistic Consistency:
- Enhanced the overall look by eliminating transitions on option toggles, ensuring a more consistent look across menus
- Optimization:
- Minor loading improvements
- Resolved a minor validation issue during loading
- Polish:
- Introduced a delay before the 'day' note appears in-game, preventing overlap with the loading screen
- Introduced a minor delay before loading can begin again once entering a scene, to prevent possible future issues
Announcer is available for free for Windows and Linux systems. Have fun!
