Mechanics

Power-Ups

  • Added a new mechanic called the 'power-up'. When you collect one of these, you will gain a temporary score multiplier, which will increase the score that you gain anytime you gain score for the next couple of seconds. If you can manage to collect multiple of these in a row, your multiplier will continue to get higher and higher.
  • When you collect one, the game also speeds up for the duration of the multiplier!

Score Multipliers


  • When you have a score multiplier, all increases to your score will be multiplied by your current score multiplier.
  • Score multipliers you get from these yellow-orb power-ups will expire after a few seconds, so you'll need to keep running into them to stack your multiplier higher and higher to get a new high-score!

Re-balancing

Medal unlocking thresholds have been adjusted to align with the new score multiplier and power-up system.

Graphical Upgrades

Text Blur Fix

Text stretching/blurring has been fixed. This fix also applies to all other sprites in the game, but text was the most affected.

New! Sky gradient:


The goal of this change was to simplify the gradient so that it is not so distracting during gameplay. This gradient is also much easier to work with in terms of color palettes for UI elements and things like the new power-ups, which I do not want to blend into the background.

Audio Upgrades

  • Main Menu:
    • Music now fades in smoothly instead of starting immediately.
    • Music now loops seamlessly.
  • Gameplay:
    • When you die, the music fades out in a non-linear fashion now.

Technology

Engine Upgrades

Various improvements to my own code have increased the performance and stability of the game.

Code Backend

Scripting backend has been swapped from Mono to IL2CPP. This may impact modding efforts. If you are interested in modding Fali, please contact me to discuss.

Performance Improvements

Audio backend migration has been completed, and the old Unity audio system has been deprecated. This will significantly improve performance on low-end devices and browser gameplay.

Bug Fixes

Various bug fixes that I do not have the time, energy, or knowledge to explain.
