Update Announcement

Thanks to everyone for all the support and nice comments during the 2023 GMTK GameJam!

I've decided to continue working on this project, and I want to make it the best I can.

Starting off, I think the main menu is a bit lacking in really any kind of personality and first impressions are important, it also serves as a simple start to a project that might grow a bit bigger than I originally anticipated.

Please note that all announcements made in blog posts are not final, may be scrapped, changed, or otherwise not match what was said.

So, as the title says, the main focus of this update is the new title screen or main menu. I want it to feel a bit more atmospheric and give it some more personality than the flat PNG that I settled for during the GameJam.

Here are some of the planned features for the new main menu:

  • A splash screen, so aren't immediately jolted onto the main menu as you start up the game
  • The main.. main menu, which will give you access to some new information and options that you didn't have before
  • An options menu, an essential menu for changing volume settings and toggling fullscreen. More options will be available in the future of course.
  • The credits, I didn't have time to make a credits screen in the original GameJam version, so I'm going to take my time to make sure I credit everybody that needs crediting here. Please note that some credits might be missing in early access versions
  • A new save selection screen, for a future save system. More on that.. later
